History of Sooner Pipe, L.L.C.

Founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1937 by Henry Zarrow as a small oilfield supply store, Sooner has grown to become the world's largest tubular distributor and logistics service provider to the oil and gas industry. Sooner serves the widest customer base in the industry - ranging from major international oil companies to small independents.

Each of the tubular divisions acquired by Sooner brings a distinguished history and a strong customer base to the combined company. The tubular supply companies that formed National-Oilwell's tubular division — National Supply and Oilwell Supply — were both founded in the 1800s. Continental Supply and Bovaird Supply — which merged to form the tubular division of Continental Emsco — were founded in 1912 and 1871, respectively. Wilson's tubular division was founded in 1921, making it the youngest of this venerable group.

One year after its own acquisition by SCF Partners in 1998, Sooner acquired the tubular divisions of Continental Emsco, National-Oilwell and Wilson Supply Company in the single largest consolidation ever accomplished in the history of the OCTG distribution industry.

In February 2001, Sooner was acquired by Oil States International, Inc., a leading provider of specialty products and services to oil and gas drilling and production companies throughout the world. Oil States International, Inc. is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol OIS.

Sooner History

Unique among its peers

Through its key relationships with more than 20 manufacturers of oilfield specialty and line pipe, Sooner delivers products and ancillary services to oil and gas companies, drilling contractors and consultants around the globe.

In an industry marked by mass attrition and consolidation following the market collapse of 1982, there are several key strengths that account for Sooner's success and longevity. Sooner maintains the industry's largest on-the-ground inventory, giving the company the flexibility to fill customer orders from its own stock or directly from the manufacturer. As part of Oil States International, Inc., Sooner has both the commitment and the capital required to support our customer's drilling programs.

Sooner's proprietary inventory management system, specifically designed for the Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) industry, allows the company to track its product shipments down to the individual pipe stems. The system is completely portable, allowing it to be used at Sooner's main domestic facility, the 109-acre, ISO 9001-certified A-Z Terminal in Crosby, Texas, as well as Sooner's customer offices and pipe yards in several states.

Sooner's management team

Sooner has assembled the strongest management team in the industry, with each member having an average of more than 20 years of industry experience. Sooner launches OCTG e-commerce site

As the longstanding industry leader, the company has launched the OCTG industry's first e-commerce Web site that allows customers to both place orders and track product from any Internet access point in the world. The site, www.soonerpipe.com, allows customers to access the features provided by Sooner's proprietary inventory management system, designed specifically to handle tubular products. Using www.soonerpipe.com, customers can browse Sooner's entire catalog of OCTG and line pipe, select from dozens of added-value pipe logistics services and accessory equipment and perform real-time order tracking from the originating mill to final delivery.

Upon request, www.soonerpipe.com can also fax a request for a price and delivery quotation to a customer's top five choices of competing tubular distributors, who respond directly back to the customer with pricing information. This feature saves the customer time and effort in obtaining the best value for a particular order.
